Hello and welcome!
You have found a transformative and inspirational spaces for writers and would-be writers; why not have a poke around and see what we’ve got? We offer workshops and events around creative fiction and non-fiction, life writing, poetry & writing for wellbeing. And, coming in spring 2026, scriptwriting!
We have our mentored online co-writing group, ‘The Write Place’, and an in-person co-writing morning on Sundays at the Lamb & Flag in Oxford (home of the Inklings where Tolkien, CS Lewis and their friends would meet with their friends to share and discuss their writing. And where Thomas Hardy allegedly wrote Jude the Obscure).
Coming up this spring 2026, we have poetry workshops with Jen Feroze, Vanessa Lampert and Carl Tomlinson; mindful photography walks with Jo Osborne; so many live events at the Lamb & Flag in Oxford (co-writing mornings; collaborative Japanese Renga poetry sessions; writers’ meet ups; monthly open mics and so much more).
Apart from our very exciting collaboration with the Lamb & Flag, we have a few new things up our sleeves this year. I am so delighted that our first ‘Introduction to…’ workshop will be with the brilliant scriptwriter, Tessa Gibbs. And it is with not a little excitement that we welcome the wonderfully inspirational Emma Darwin to run our first ‘Stop Procrastinating and Write…’ workshop on Historical Fiction (a genre very close to my heart – well they all are, but it is possible to have a current favourite child). And by popular request, I will be running some workshops on how to overcome writers’ block and imposter syndrome, how to write for your particular reader and more poetry therapy - of course!
Welcome to The Writing Well
And there is 1:1 mentoring. I specialise in helping writers get over writers’ block and imposter syndrome (and I will be starting a new strand of workshops about that too), and help them to find their authentic voice and get that writing done. But some clients simply come to me for regular accountability, writing prompts, writing for wellbeing, and general feedback on their writing and/or practice and process. Happy to have a no-obligation chat to see if I can help, or point you in another direction. But we also have professional and prize-winning poets and writers, and editors on hand to help you. Just get in touch to enquire.
Sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about forthcoming workshops and events (and, for a behind-the-scenes slower read around the discussions we have about writing and process in our workshops we have a Substack, “Blows the Heart Wide Open.” More on that below). We also have a thriving Instagram community.
Drop me a line here and I will be happy to see if I can help.

What people have said about working with Kate:
‘Kate is … inspiring, giving me permission to write and believe in myself as an author.’ - TS
“Now, I AM a writer, thanks to Kate and her help and prompts. I now make the time to write most days and I am over 13.000 words into a story that was an effort, [now I am] almost tripping over ideas to move the story onwards. Thank you Kate, I hold you wholly responsible!” GC
Kate has worked as a writing mentor since her career in publishing, working with non-fiction and fiction writers, and poets to help them kick-start their creativity, commit to their practice, get over imposter syndrome, reflect on their process, negotiate writers’ block, edit their project and just get their writing done.
Clients include professional writers and hobby writers. Whether you want to have a one-off session or have a monthly or weekly accountability session, get in touch to see how Kate could help you.
Regular or one-off reflective and therapeutic writing practice sessions for personal growth and reflection are also available.
