WRITERS' PERFORMANCE NIGHT | " As the Light Fades" | Prose Readings (by submission) & Poetry Open Mic | Lamb & Flag, Oxford | Sunday 25th October 6–8.30pm

£0.00

Calling all Oxford writers (or writers coming to Oxford!)

Writers’ Night at the Lamb & Flag. 6pm-8:30pm Sunday 25th October with readings of the month’s successful short Prose submissions and a Poetry Open mic.

  • Prose performances (chosen by submission) 6pm start.

  • Interval and mingle with other writers 7pm.

  • Poetry Open Mic 7:30pm.

Submissions now open for 100-500 words of engaging prose for first half of evening. This month’s THEME: “As the Light Fades”.

We’ll be well into the time where there’s more darkness than daylight, so bring us work which celebrates - or mourns - this.

The Celts believed the festival of Samhain marks the point where the veil between our world and the world of the dead is the thinnest, so tell us about your peeps, or trips, through that veil.

It’s a season for acknowledgment of those we come from, for gathering their strength into ours to get through us the nights ahead.

Tell us who, or what, is getting you through.

How you tackle that is up to you. Thrill and enthrall us! What we are looking for are 100-500 words with an immediate hook/opening; vivid/memorable descriptions and/or dialogue; and strong last lines. Get writing and send those words in!

Prose reader places are limited so will be chosen for variety and quality by submission. Length 100-500 words max. Please submit no later than Sunday 18th October to Kate (hello@kateoldfieldwrites.com)

Successful readers will be notified by Tuesday 20th Oct

Poets no need to submit - just sign up soon - places limited! (there will be 2 wildcard spaces on the night).

Everyone welcome: come along to support the brave performers!
