Poems that Glow
This workshop was so good, we had to run it twice!
As the nights drew in, we joined Jen Feroze for a gentle, generative and uplifting writing workshop. We hunkered down and looked for the light, with a series of writing prompts and exercises that encouraged us to think about where you found comfort, brightness and spark.
Jen says: There's a definite magic about this time of year, as we head towards the longest night. The run up to the festive period adds a sort of glimmering to the periphery of everything – trees and stars and garlands and gold. But there's a wildness to the season too, a feeling of being on the cusp between beginnings and endings, joy and sadness, light and dark.
We examined this liminality together, with scope for the creation of poems about people, memory, nature and place, and shone light on what's important to us, and we left with new flickering flames of ideas – a row of personal candles in a darkened window.
