BLOCK OF ANY 5 SESSIONS of The Write Place within the current 5-week term*: (Mondays 9.30-12pm and/or Thursdays 9.30-12pm BST)

£60.00

The Write Place is an online writing space, where writers of every level can come together for support, community and accountability, while carving out 2 hours of protected writing time.

It’s a perfect space to get your writing done, break through the block, find your flow and meet like-minded people. (Imposter syndrome isn’t allowed a look in.)

*if you want to join in the middle of a 5-week term (which align with the UK school term times) then we can sort something out!

It works like this…

You can pick whichever session you like, whenever you like.

All sessions are on Zoom (in school term times). All timings are UK time.

For the first 15 minutes of the session, we come together for a brief and light chat to say hello, we then have a short discussion or a prompt, or some breath work, or a creative visualisation exercise, to ground and centre the group. We then set our intentions for the writing session and write for 2 hours, (cameras on - if we like – microphones off). We then check in with each other at the end of the session (and sometimes people might want to share a little of what they are working on – but that is not obligatory, and many don’t).

Who is it for? And can beginners come?

Participants include poets, short-story writers, writers for well-being, non-fiction writers, novelists, business copywriters and a scriptwriter. Many are beginners, some have been published before – everyone is welcome. (Since we started in 2021, 4 people have completed their first books and many poems have been written and journals filled.)

It is hosted and mentored by Kate Oldfield. Kate has worked in publishing for over 20 years – as a publisher, editor, writing mentor, and ghost-writer. She now divides her time between writing her own first novel, running creative writing groups and spoken word events, and carving out a little bit more time for her poetry.

What is the commitment and cost?

You can come to whichever sessions you like. (All we advise, for the sake of your own writing, is to make your practice regular.)

Paying ahead for a block of 5 single, or double weekly sessions is cheaper (see below). But we happily accept drop-ins (drop-in rate is £15).

Pricing.

Option 1: Block of 5 single weekly sessions £60 Mondays or Thursdays (works out at £12 per session).

Option 2: Block of 5 twice-weekly sessions £100 Mondays & Thursdays (works out at £10 per session).

Option 3: Drop-in, £15 per session.

Concession rate (by agreement with Kate, no questions asked) £10.

The Zoom link is sent out the night before, once people have paid.

The first session is free
