Poetry submission tips: #5: Edit out Cliche
“Bring something new to the poem. When I say ‘new’ I mean that although we live in a world of cliches, and sometimes we can't avoid them, but the most profound poems have rid themselves of that and bring something new to the story . So, even if you write the first draft of the poem with your cliches in there, underline them, think of something new and bring it to the table.”
